Welcome back, Geeky Gluttons, to another episode of Munchies & Minis!
For those just joining us, Munchies & Minis is a live Twitch cooking show where I make a tabletop or Dungeons & Dragons-inspired snack and then paint a miniature. To kick the first season off, I decided to start @RaineRysa‘s #52WeeksofDnD fanart challenge. Three weeks ago, we made some Meatloaf and Mashed Potato Mimics for the challenge word “Mimic.” Two weeks ago’s challenge word was “Halfling.”
The idea for today’s recipe came to me when reading through the Halfling section in the Fifth Edition Player’s Handbook. There is an image of what looks like a strawberry and cheese pie. I wanted to recreate it.
As much as I like sweets, I didn’t think a cheesecake would be enough. The standard halfling is gluttonous for as many flavors he can fit into each bite. Their culture is one of excess, yet not morbidly so. A halfling enjoys life and all of its pleasant sensations and would instead create that joy than squander it.
You could say that that benevolent hedonism is in the halfling ‘s nature. So with that, I thought I’d make a multi-flavored baked brie with multiple textures. Baked into crispy phyllo dough, a layer of honeyed cream cheese, fresh dill, and strawberry slices adorn each round of brie.
