Munchies & Minis | First World Mince Pie

First World Mince Pie inspired by Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Recipe by The Gluttonous Geek.

Welcome back, Geeky Gluttons, to another episode of Munchies & Minis!

Munchies & Minis is my tabletop RPG-inspired live cooking show for those just joining us. Once a week, I make a snack or meal to pair with a side of dice rolls. You can catch me on Twitch (unless indicated otherwise on social media) Wednesday nights at 7 pm EST.

In our last video, we made cold potato soup from The Red Sheaf Inn featured in D&D’s Volo’s Guide to the Sword Coast. In this episode, we return Pathfinder: Kingmaker‘s Golarion with a recipe for First World Mince Pie.

Not to Mince Worlds…

Pathfinder: Kingmaker is a computer game based on Paizo’s Pathfinder. This top-down RPG sets your character into the Stolen Lands — a territory plagued by bandits and monsters — on a mission to establish peace and order with a barony as the prize. Soon, though, you discover the Stolen Lands host several portals to the First World — home of the fey and drawing board to the gods. Saturated with magic, mist, and monsters, this land grows technicolor flora and fauna.

The game is part adventure-RPG and part kingdom simulator, and also features an advantage-boosting cooking mechanic. And while you can whip up creations with mundane ingredients like cheese, herbs, and nuts, the possibilities don’t stop there. You can also enjoy dishes crafted from owlbear eggs, wyvern meat, and plants found in the First World. We’ve already covered the purple shambletus mushroom in a previous post. This episode deals with the First World Fruit — a hot-pink-skinned tart globe that is totally not a dragonfruit.

The recipe for First World Mince Pie calls for this fruit, chocolate, flour, and nuts. Since the graphic for nuts looks like hazelnuts, I used Nutella for my flavor base. I then blended it with crushed walnuts for texture and cinnamon for its prevalence in medieval spice blends. As for my topping, while the First World fruit isn’t a dragonfruit, it looks a heck of a lot like one. I used it anyway but glazed over it with cherry syrup to temper its tartness and add complexity.
